Blood Testing
Maps your hormone levels and related blood values, the foundation under every treatment plan at Menovia.
What is this test
Blood testing is the foundation of every treatment program at Menovia. Which values exactly are tested depends on your package. We look at the full interplay of hormones, thyroid, blood sugar, and vitamin status, rather than a single measurement.
Up to 31 blood values mapped
Tailored to your Basis, Plus, or Compleet package
Repeated every 12 weeks during your program

Why Menovia measures this
We look beyond just estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. Thyroid function, vitamin D status, and blood sugar all affect how you feel during menopause, and aren't always included as standard in regular care. An underactive thyroid, for example, can play a role in night sweats, brain fog, weight gain, and heart palpitations. This way, we prevent you from being sent from treatment to treatment without ever identifying the underlying cause.
What you get with the results
You won't get a standalone list of numbers, but a conversation in which the doctor connects your values to your symptoms and life stage. Every repeat blood test is used to adjust: dosage, additional diagnostics, or updated advice, so treatment moves with your body instead of remaining a one-time estimate.
A personal treatment plan
Often personally dosed bio-identical hormones
Targeted supplements for a deficiency
Lifestyle advice where it makes the most difference
Every repeat test used to adjust
Which blood values we measure
Which values we measure depends on your package. Menovia Basis measures the core hormone panel; Plus and Compleet are identical to each other and expand this with a comprehensive panel.
How it works in practice
Blood testing is deliberately kept low-threshold, so you get clarity quickly. Here's how it works in practice:
Referral and collection materials
You receive a referral letter that gives you access to a blood-draw location near you through Bloedwaardentest.nl. The necessary collection materials are sent to you in advance by post.
The draw itself
Fast for at least 6 hours (water is fine, coffee isn't), avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours and alcohol for 24 hours. The cost of the draw is covered by Menovia.
Results and discussion
After 3 to 5 business days, the results are in. A BIG-registered doctor discusses your values together with your symptoms, not a standalone number report without context.
Results, discussion, and monthly monitoring
Once the results are in, a BIG-registered doctor schedules a conversation to discuss your values together with your symptoms. During an ongoing program, we repeat blood testing every 12 weeks, you have a monthly consultation, and you fill in the MRS questionnaire beforehand to track your symptoms systematically.

Is it reimbursed?
Since May 2026, part of the consultations are reimbursed through supplementary insurance, depending on your insurer and policy.
