This is what the treatment process looks like

Online Screening

Leave your details and schedule an intake. Through a digital questionnaire, we'll check whether you're eligible for a free introductory call (10 min) or intake (45 min). When scheduling, you pay a deposit of €150, which is deducted from the intake costs of your package.

Intake

You will discuss our program with one of our specialized doctors and decide whether to participate.

Blood & DNA research

You will receive the tests at home for a smooth process. Blood tests are done at a location near you.

Personal Treatment Plan

Based on your research results, the doctor will create a personal treatment plan, usually consisting of bioidentical hormone supplementation and, if necessary, supplements.

Start Traject

Het traject duurt minimaal 6 maanden om er zeker van te zijn dat we je goed begeleiden.

Monitoring

During your treatment, you will be in regular contact with our expert team. Blood tests are done every 12 weeks for adjustments.

Evaluation

At the end of your treatment, we will determine your next steps together. This may include a referral back to the doctor or further guidance with Menovia.

Why Menovia

Menovia offers intensive, personalized and accessible care, tailored to what this phase of life really requires. With our clearly structured and digital process, you always know where you stand.

What makes Menovia unique:
-
Structured 6-month process with clear steps, so you know exactly what to expect.
- Guidance by a doctor with expertise in functional medicine and bioidentical hormone therapy.
- Combination of blood tests and an extensive intake, for a treatment that really suits you.
- Digital consultations so you have access to specialist care — no matter where you are.
- Active and regular guidance and adjustment: your treatment grows with your body and needs.
- Aftercare option after the program ends: you choose whether to continue, switch to your doctor, or keep an annual check-up.

In short: Menovia is for women who want more than standard care. We help you navigate through a phase of life where hormonal imbalance no longer has to prevail — but where vitality, direction and well-being can once again be key.

What are the costs of the program?

The costs of a Menovia program consist of two parts:

The intake phase
Extensive conversation with the doctor, discussing your health complaints and completed questionnaire.

If you qualify, you pay a deposit of €150 when booking your intake appointment. This is later deducted from your intake costs.

The guidance process
A monthly consultation with a doctor, the MRS questionnaire to systematically track your symptoms, and blood tests every 12 weeks for adjustment

What if I can't participate after the blood test?

If you decide not to continue after the blood test and DNA tests, we will discuss this together. We cannot reverse the costs of the blood test itself, but you are not tied to further treatment.

What is a gut microbiome test?

A gut microbiome test provides insight into the composition and diversity of the bacteria in your gut. These bacteria play an important role in digestion, immunity and hormone function.

During menopause, the balance of your gut microbiome can shift. This can affect how hormones are processed and how your body responds to hormonal changes. A gut microbiome test helps us understand whether gut health is playing a role in your symptoms.

The test is carried out using a stool sample and is always interpreted together with your other test results and personal situation. It's not a standard test for everyone, but it can offer additional insight when relevant.

Who is Menovia for?

Many women don't realize that perimenopause can start in their early 40s. This phase is often associated with vague or varying hormonal symptoms that are not always immediately recognized. If you experience such symptoms (see our list of perimenopause and menopause symptoms), you can already sign up with Menovia for research and guidance.

Menovia is for women in the perimenopause and menopause who need personalized and evidence-based hormonal support:

- For women who want to have their hormonal balance examined and gain more insight into their health.
- For women who have never used hormones before and are looking for a safe and customized start.
- For women who are already taking hormones but are not satisfied with their current treatment and want to get a better grip on their therapy.
- For women who want to better understand their hormonal balance and want a broader medical approach.

What are the costs for BHRT?

The costs of bioidentical hormone therapy (BHRT) depend on the medication that is prescribed and are partly under the health insurer and partly under your own account.- Personalized doses (prepared by a pharmacy) are currently not reimbursed by health insurance and are therefore at your own expense. - Generic drugs in standard doses are in most cases partially or fully reimbursed by the health insurer.

Are Menovia's treatments covered by health insurance?

Menovia's programs are currently not reimbursed by health insurance. We hope that changes in the future. For hormone supplementation, we often start with low, personalized doses of estrogens and progesterone. These are being built up step by step. Whenever possible, we try to switch to generic variants and dosages that are reimbursed by health insurance. However, some women tolerate personalized medication better and choose to keep taking it. For them, the costs remain at their own expense. In addition, DHEA and testosterone are off-label in the Netherlands and only available in personalized preparations. There are no generic variants of this, so they always have to be funded by the patient himself.

What is a DUTCH test?

The DUTCH test (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) is an advanced at-home test that provides insight into your hormonal health using dried urine samples. The test not only measures how much hormone your body produces, but also how your body processes and breaks down these hormones.

What does the DUTCH test measure?

Sex hormones:
estrogen, progesterone, testosteroneStress hormones: cortisol (daily rhythm) and DHEA
Melatonin: the sleep hormone
Hormone metabolites: how your body breaks down hormones

Why is this test useful?
The DUTCH test offers in-depth insight into hormonal patterns that may contribute to symptoms such as fatigue, sleep problems, menopausal symptoms, stress, low libido, or unexplained weight gain. It provides more comprehensive information than standard blood or saliva tests.

How does it work?
You collect a small urine sample on a special test card at four points over a 24-hour period. You let this dry and send it to a laboratory. It can be done entirely at home, with no needles involved.

Who is this test suitable for?
The DUTCH test is suitable for women experiencing hormonal symptoms at any stage of life — from menstrual concerns to menopausal symptoms or burnout-related complaints.
